Thrifty Car Rental Reopens In Richmond INT’L Airport
Thrifty Car Rental, a subsidiary of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Inc., is reopening in-terminal at Richmond International Airport, after a year-and-a-half absence. Due to customer demand, the company will also reopen its downtown MCI Center location at 7th and G Streets in downtown Washington, D.C., it was announced today.
At Richmond International Airport, Thrifty makes a comeback with a fleet of just over 200 cars, including a full range of vehicles from the DaimlerChrysler Corporation. Business has rebounded considerably since 9/11, said General Manager Bill Scholl. We’re delighted that conditions have improved significantly, and that we can return and provide more options for those commuting to the Norfolk and Washington corridor. Customers will be able to take advantage of brand-new 2004 cars starting to roll in, including the new Chrysler Pacifica.
Located in the airport terminal, Thrifty Car Rental in Richmond is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to midnight.
Likewise, Thrifty’s decision to reopen at the MCI Center is due to much-improved travel conditions. While the economics of operating at the MCI Center in a post-9/11 economy dictated a move about a year ago, our loyal customers sent a message to us loud and clear that they needed us back, said Location Manager Taunya Thompson, an employee in the Washington Metro Region for over 10 years.
Located across the street from Pepco headquarters, Thrifty serves a variety of downtown customers that include local business renters, Capitol Hill visitors and those staying in nearby hotels. The high demand for improved accessibility, and the proximity to the Metro subway system, was our mandate to reopen in the MCI Center, said Thompson.
