Auto Rental Industry Executive To Lead Abrams Consulting's European Expansion
Neil Abrams, President of ABRAMS CONSULTING GROUP, INC., a leading specialized consulting and market research firm serving the global car rental, commercial fleet management/leasing, and allied travel and transportation industries, has announced that Geoff Corbett, an internationally recognized and respected industry veteran, has joined ACG as Managing Director of its Europe, Middle East, Africa Region. Corbett will be officed in Bookham, Surrey, a suburb of London. In explaining Corbett’s appointment, Abrams states, While our business presence in Europe was established several years ago, we have felt that it would take a well regarded and visible senior executive with significant global travel service experience to truly leverage the ABRAMS’ brand of highly professional, blue chip consulting and research services into the rapidly changing European marketplace. I am delighted and extremely enthused that a professional of Geoff’s caliber and expertise will be leading the ABRAMS CONSULTING INTERNATIONAL - EMEA business unit.
Corbett’s most recent industry role was as President and Chief Operating Officer of ANC Rental Corporation – International. During his tenure from October 1997 through December 1999 (when he opted for early retirement), he orchestrated the successful acquisition of EuroDollar Plc, the concurrent integration of Alamo Europe, and the creation of the industry’s first multi-branded auto-rental organization in Europe, featuring the Alamo, National, and Guy Salmon brands, and operated by a network of licensees and corporately-owned locations. Prior to returning to Europe in 1996, Corbett had a nine-year assignment in the U.S.A., as Executive Vice President with National Car Rental working closely with Jay Alix and Partners on the successful financial turnaround of National prior to it’s divestiture by General Motors in 1995. Before joining the National System, Corbett served as Managing Director for AVIS, U.K., during which time he was part of the senior management team which launched Avis Europe on the London Stock Exchange.
Commenting on his decision to take his 32 years of multifaceted experience on 3 continents to spearhead ACI-EMEA’s development strategies, Corbett states, The auto rental and commercial fleet management/leasing competitive landscape has been undergoing significant evolution as a result of consolidation, technological innovations, new strategic alliances, and volatility within the global economy. The challenge for companies to create new business models which assure long term growth and profitability has never been greater. ACI-EMEA’s mission is to capture and create opportunity in this new dynamic marketplace, teaming with existing and prospective clients to be on the cutting edge of the travel and transportation industry evolution, optimizing financial performance and creating value in their businesses.
