Detroit Disel Introduces Two Automotive Engines At The Frankfurt Auto Show

During the Frankfurt Auto Show, Detroit Diesel Corporation featured two new automotive diesel engines, further expanding its offering of engines for the sport utility vehicle, light truck and automotive markets. The two engines, both V-6 configurations, are 3.0L and 4.0L designs.

The 3.0L VECTER is designed for worldwide automotive applications and the 4.0L DELTA is primarily for North American light truck applications stated DDC’s Vice Chairman, Timothy D. Leuliette. These new engines deliver the performance, noise levels and driveability of gasoline engines along with the low emissions, durability and fuel economy of modern, high speed diesel engines.

Both engines feature common rail fuel injection with full electronic controls, including electronically controlled cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation. DELTA is the acronym for Diesel Engine for Light Truck Applications. VECTER is the acronym for Vee Engine Configuration, Turbocharged, Electronic, Rail.

The DELTA and VECTER engines join the popular DDC 4, 5 and 6 cylinder in-line automotive diesel engines already produced in Europe and Latin America.
