Safety 1st Introduces Single Belt LATCH Car Seat
The new Forerunner™ convertible seat offers single-belt convenience for LATCH users. The car seat can still be installed in the vehicle using the lap or lap/shoulder belt, as well.
LATCH is an installation system that allows a car seat to be installed in certain vehicles without using the adult seat belt system. In some cases, it provides a tighter installation, especially for vehicles with continuous loop-lap belts or ELR belts. The new LATCH anchors will soon be required in almost all vehicles; most car seats will be required to have LATCH-compatible systems by 9-1-02. Forerunner™ meets those standards now.
Forerunner™ faces rear for infants 5-35 pounds, forward for toddlers 22-40 pounds. The 35-pound weight limit allows babies to remain rear-facing until they are over 1 year old as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. The harness adjusts with one hand in front; three harness positions allow room for baby to grow. An infant insert helps keep baby more upright and comfortable, while a removable pillow adds extra comfort for toddlers. Mesh storage pockets on the sides hold travel needs.
