Buying auto insurance using an insurance broker
It doesn't matter if your a first time buyer or not, you have to have at least the minimum of auto insurance. Most jurisdictions require that. Your best option is to consult with a auto insurance broker in your area. Your broker will show you what coverage will suit your requirements and fit your budget. If you have teenagers driving your car you must make sure your auto insurance covers them adequately as well.
Some states and provinces have a point system for traffic violations that directly impact your auto insurance rates. If you have an excessive amount of fines this will put your point level above the minimum and your car insurance rate will increase. If you've had an accident it most certainly will impact your insurance rate. It's always best to consult your auto insurance broker for rates in your area.
If your pulling a trailer or hauling a camper, make sure your coverage is at least what is shown on the coverage page of your auto insurance. Most will cover built in accessories and equipment such as sway bars etc.. Check with your auto insurance broker for rates and coverage in your area.
