Buying a car? What you need to know when you're buying a new or used car!

If you're buying a car, either a new or used car and you have information, it equals bargaining leverage. Say you've chosen the car of your dreams. Now you need information. Check out the new car review in consumers' magazines, go to the library and look up the most recent information on used cars. Here's what you should be looking for when you're buying a car.

Fuel is the single most consumed item that the car will use. When you're buying a car that's probably the first item you'll check. That's where most of your money goes, right in the gas tank and out the exhaust. There should be a label on the window of the car indicating the fuel consumption in miles per gallon. This is a federal requirement.

Once you decide on the type of car you need, it is time to do your research to narrow down the choices. A number of publications and other resources can provide new car comparison information rating the vehicles within specific categories. You can also find up-to-date car buying information at your local library. Ask friends what they like and dislike about their cars.

Here some areas to compare when you go for a new car or used car quote, safety, reliability, fuel economy, warranties, operating costs, theft rates, general features, and options when making your decision.

A warranty is very important. Buying a car is expensive and a warranty is one way to protect your investment. Every manufacturer has one so you should examine what is included in the warranty and base part of your decision on that.

Safety is definitely one of the features you must consider when you're buying a car. All automakers are mandated to include air bags. Some manufactures now have side air bags as well. Optional features are traction control, anti lock brakes and child safety seats built in. There are more options as well. Check them and compare.

These are just some of the items and options to consider when buying a car.
